My understanding of the leadership feat is that sadly not. Tatzlwyrm is not a playable race by any stretch of the imagination and that is the key to taking the leadership feat. It has to be a playable class or a class that can be created and to do that we need a race that can interact with other races in a better way then what a Tatzlwyrm can do.

Now can a cohort be from a monster race... yes, yes it can but you need GM permission to do so. You could have a Kobold cohort no problem at this point but so far no other monster races are available. At best a Tatzlwyrm could be an animal companion. The other thing that makes up the being of a cohort is the ability to make it some sort of class. I just don't see a Tatzlwyrm being able to take levels of anything. How would you train it to be a fighter? A Bard? A Paladin, none of those or any class could be logical taught or applied to a Tatzlwyrm or hell most dragons in general the exception to that being Dragon-kin.

If you think differently check out the feats text here. Other then that sorry.

Personally I can see them as rogues. (maybe really campy ninjas)

I can understand them not being followers, in general they are dragonkin, they are not an allowed race. I do reitorate they are not animals, and should not be availables as animal companions(unless Dragons are allowed as an animal companion), do you really want to see a druid or ranger with a dragonkin as an animal companion. (might be fun with a Kobold druid ranger or Paladin though)

regardless whatever you decide is the rule Im fine with that im just trying to incerase my understanding of the game, and our limits

Animal is a broad term in the concept of the Bestiary. The real dead giveaway that a Tatzlwyrm is of animal nature Francis is that their alignment is True neutral. It's said in the rules that animals like wolfs, pigs, snakes, raptors, Elk, etc have true neutral for their alignment because they act on instinct their is no malice in their actions or general goodness behind them.

That's why they would fall more under animal companions their also the right CR for it. They'd be a high level animal companion though. I mean animal companions is just a general term, as is the word for familiar it just depends. I mean for example Fluffy probably means more to Francis then other creatures and what not for example. I mean in general you take damage for Fluffy don't you.
